City Showcase: Soho Flea Market will bring together London’s creative talent on Sunday 27 May, in support of HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust.

Very excited about the latest project from City Showcase who continue to be the organisation that spearheads the blueprints of British events while remaining accessible to the more grass roots side of artistic life.

Creatives from all disciplines including fashion designers, glass makers, sculptors, ceramic designers, home furnishing designers, jewellery makers, artists, writers, poets, musicians, comedians, dancers, film makers, games developers will be exhibiting and selling their works at ‘creative market stalls’ the length and breadth of Dean Street.

There will be be musical showcases, too, from exciting new artists on the City Showcase outdoor stage.

Businesses in and around Dean Street are supporting the event which promises to be one of the most glamorous flea markets ever.

Fawn James of Soho Estates said: ‘This vibrant and exciting concept is a fantastic addition to Soho. Soho is about independent and talented creative minds and businesses and City Showcase: Soho Flea Market is the perfect event to showcase the best of what we have to offer to the world.’

This new central London event will bring together London's creative talent for a day of selling, performing, showcasing and connecting on the vibrant, happening, Dean Street.

Confirming the new event which was launched at a packed to the rafters Soho House, City Showcase Founding Director, Nanette Rigg, told national music industry media, CMU: "We are proud of our track record for helping and supporting new talent in the field of music and are delighted to be able to extend our work to be able to showcase all creative talent in one of London's most iconic streets".

Karim Ladak ((Habitat, Ralph Lauren, Potassium), who will help select the creatives to present at the street party, said: "We’re inviting London’s creative community to come together for one special day in May where we’ll celebrate the capital’s diverse talent in a unique and fun way that also supports up and coming artists.’

Anita Maj is a singer with an edge. She has been developing her songwriting talents since her early teens. Her songs are inspired by early legends like Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, iconic women in rock such as, PJ Harvey and Debbie Harry, as well as modern influences including Kings of Leon, The Killers, Muse and 30 Seconds to Mars.

She arrived in London from Yorkshire where she honed her skills busking on the London Underground. As luck would have it, it was here that her instant pop songs got her noticed by Kanye West collaborator, Malik Yusuf no less. Since then Anita has only looked forward.

Feisty power pop likened to a 21st century punky Bangles/Suzi Quatro/Pink – Anita plays every show like a major festival headline. That charisma is winning some serious attention on both sides of the Atlantic. Anita regularly gigs at key London’s music venues and is a growing attraction on the national festival circuit. This summer also included supports with Art Brut and The View.

She is one of the newer wave of Brit newcomers with a swelling US following, is getting radio play across America and has toured five times in two years. Always asked she’s already played (rock n roll household names) like Arlene’s Grocery (at CMJ), The Viper Room, Whiskey a Gogo abnd New Orleans’s House of Blues and SXSW.

Playtime’ builds on well received previous release 'Out of Control' and previews her debut album, 'Truth Or Dare', produced by Dan Swift (Kasabian, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol) . Power pop anthem filled, it is alreading ssounding like a greatest hit collection and is due for release in Spring 2012 (Lil Minx Records).

Another album track, 'Undercover' is on the latest edition of computer game, Rockband. Anita joins such luminaries as Metallica, Journey, Miley Cyrus and Spinal Tap, by being featured. The extra track, ‘Proud’, has also been receiving rock show play.

Janice Graham Band, The Carpels, The Ghosts - TF Big In 2012

Big In 2012 more than lived up to the New Year’s special edition of This Feeling. London’s Queen Of Hoxton was rammed tighter than King Kong’s cock in a gnats chuff as soon as the doors opened, with queues round the block still.

Inside a mix of 48 Hour Party People are in the hot ticket zone. The Ghosts opened the show to a packed dance floor crackling with the buzz of expectation. We were not to be disappointed. They hit the ground running with a set of crafted beats and dark synth pop hooks of instant proportions.

The Carpels kept up the momentum with spot on rock drums underpinning genre clash anthems. The youthful exuberance emanating from the stage infects the crowd with a blast of punky sound that is twisted with electro veins of dubstep. The audience know they’re hearing a fresh sound; this is the band’s third, fan winning, appearance at this club.

Both bands went down the proverbial storm, with thunderous applause. “Thank you Mikey, Heather and Gordon” say The Ghosts towards the end of their (first!) set. Mikey (This Feeling head honcho), video/film maker/TV producer/band booker Heather Minx Ferguson and Gordon Smart (Bizarre) have created one of the star breaker events that is akin to a 21st century Hacienda.

In This Feeling’s own words “No less than six of the country's most talked about, up-and-coming acts will be descending upon the stage to give the TF faithful a taste of the cream of the crop in 2012. And let’s be clear about one thing - this is no manufactured list, dictated by PR. These bands matter…”

Also on the bill, Born Blonde and Life In Film are already the talk in some quarters and Sulk are up for reviving 90s Britpop.

And then there’s Janice Graham Band.

Like The Carpels and The Ghosts, this is a band that makes the dance floor sweat. They are pumping an explosive, down town top ranking, one love fusion of a rock steady festival cum funk orgy. JGB live are a musical firework display.

The ‘Ones To Watch’ accolades for Britain’s year as Olympics host are clearly an open playing field. As The Guardian newspaper remarked this same weekend "the real decisions are moving back into the hands of the fans." With neither Tinie Tempah tipped in 2010 or Lana Del Rey in 2011, 2012 is there for the taking.

Uniqulture (2012 The Musical) Weekend 1 - Positive Power

It was an emotional start to the year in the best possible way. A (Powers) bar full of music fans where you could feel the love in emotional waves. Jean Genie presents Panda~Power! and something more. One of the London mover shaker future maker extended family that uniqulture is inspired by.

In the previous post, you can hear all this as Jean Genie introduces Zachery Stephenson. Incidentally on 20th January he will be fronting Special Needs - they play a show with Daytona Lights (who played Panda~Power! in 2010 and are now playing themselves in Holloyoaks a year later) for John Kennedy of Xfm Radio. Its one of those kind of clubs.

Many more inspirations were in the house including Cecile (love hearing how The Midnight Barbers are coming on), Chris of The Run-Up, Jay (ex Blah Blah Blah), Maria and Stan of BandWagon Gigs. Loved the tunes from the guest DJs and performances from Joel Sarakula and the Kosmic Troubadour before the shake it all over pop blast that is Itchy Teeth. JG discovered them under a tree at Secret Garden Party. As James from SGP is also the stage manager of the Rocklands Stage at Peoples Day Festival its like a magical tale that you couldnt make up.

This was six months ago, but this band can make it Summer any time of the year...

It was the first weekend of 2012. The Happy New Year. Britain is largely now part of The Second World an interesting setting for the Planet's sporting attention this summer. It bodes well that although the media aren't supporting guitar bands, the "Ones To Watch 2012" season (i.e. first two weeks of the year) is richly diverse with only a few names, some already self fulfilling, popping up as a general consensus. Alongside the Planet Earth - that makes the watershed-free news of reality so scary and sad - are moments like these in a parallel dimension (Planet Water)where hugs and cakes are free and some of those cakes are gorgeous wafts of Lush Cosmetics goodies.

It is humans evolving to the point of consiousness and courtesy, after all, that make Humanity another reality of nature. At a time when division and derision grow at the same rate as the rich and poor gap, other worlds are possible. Power to positive protesting and partying. Smile.

One of the crowd (in the vanguard of Rocklands extended family), Jay Canagasabey, entertained us in-store at the Lush store in Covent Garden recently...

Meanwhile back on Planet Water, life is about something different. The arts are Nature’s communication, and its force is strong in many. A different Ones To Watch type thing. Page 30 of Monthly Planet tip zine is a project tracking an ideas factory of grassroots music industry and community from New Years Day 2012 to New Years Eve.

This is ‘Uniqulture (2012 The Musical)’. Say it loud, I'm music and I'm proud!

As a live music promoter Rocklands / Panda Power! and associated events have staged events featuring “Ones To Watch” at all levels. Thank you to all the blogs n venues n film makers / photographers n audiences n industry that join in, support and thus create the next chapters.

This, for instance, is how Week 1 went. On the 7th day Music created Friendship. Genuinely. Both Jean Genie and Zachery Stephenson set the tone of the positivity of creativity spreading unity in community;

They are both funshine fire starters. Early Paradise Bar shows with Special Needs, Bloc Party, Art Brut, Hatcham Social and so many more in South East London (the 2004 Digital Sneakers film, ‘Rocklands – Live In New Cross’ named the locality) to events nationwide. Then seminal Factory Floor, Sound Of Rum/Kate Tempest, Breton, My Passion etc followed. As did Rocklands Party (Ebony Bones, My Passion, Pink Grease) in 2007. That inspired RAR! (14+ club with Deptford Army/NX Boutique instigators Kate & Tristan / Ministry of Sound a&r star Sam and the Young Mayor Of Lewisham) from 2008 ending in 2010 with Tinie Tempah playing a £5 entry gig in Deptford while he was at Number 1 in the charts. The youth so inspiring (and East End united courtesy of Xstream East Radio support).

We have just kept connecting with like minded media and industry, since...

Music you can believe in.

Its more about entertainment making than taste making. We seek charisma with tunes n beats worth facing the stage for. . In 2009 this parallel dimension to the world on the news inspired Uniqulture. For The Decade With No Name (until 2013!) we began with Bronze Year in 2010 (ready). 2011 Silver Year (steady). Through annual Artful events we “expo” multi talented mates. Rocklands and friends start 2012 (Go)ld! as one of the biggest extended music and art families.

Very much of this article is passionately biased. Unashamedly too. I adore loads of what is happening right now. Ten years ago I left an office of good friends, working with creative, high profile, artists that I love because there was something new in the air.

A travelling circus of our vibe moved to The Heavenly Records social in 2010 and added Powers Bar (West) in 2011.

Host, Jean Genie spreads love and positivity with music obsessives socialising to a soundtrack of excellent DJs and tips. Its an a&r scouting outing supreme, part of the “Starbreaker Alliance” of promoters and their networks that work hard to raise artist profiles.

Having started this year declaring peace, love, unity and friendship (while purveying great music from mover shaker musicians Itchy Teeth, The Kosmic Troubadour, Joel Sarakula, and Jean Genie’s Massive Hugs!) with free cake and Lush goodies. The artbeat night out that just keeps on giving! 5) Starbreaker Alliance

Not an official umbrella, just a friendship exchange of tips and co promotions by a genre mashing gang of mates/promoters. Bloody good stuff. Loved catching early doors Miles Kane at This Feeling (cheers Mikey n Heather) and just being able to go out on solo missions of fun to somewhere thats not trendily hostile while still being where the buzz is AT!

From shows in 2011, some formidable potential at Starbreaker Alliance events included Misty Miller (at the Artful Panda~Power!), Gem And The Deadheads (at the BandWagon event – excited to make the acquaintance of Community Music there), Belakiss (at This Feeling), The Midnight Barbers (at Toejam and Panda~Power!), Floodliners (Rocklands Stage at Peoples Day Festival), Molly McQueen, Traitors Club and Zachery Stephenson (courtesy of Minx Media promotions - nice one Heather).

Through this alliance the brilliance of One Beat Records (home of excellent young new sound excitements that radio are picking up on,The Carpels and The Arcadian Kicks) this label by Ian Light (ex Virgin) and Jon Brookes of The Charlatans has put the cat among some yawning pigeons. Loving this for 2012. The Midlands is more musical magaical than middle earth right now...

Also really enjoyed SBTRKT at the Abbey Road Sessions (a lovely day out with Jean Genie courtesy of Nat Shaw organising for Channel 4).

For artists without an agent, in just three months BandWagon has been site to connect the coolest promoters with the working musicians. So many acclaimed acts on there that as a live promoter I signed up, used it, got impressed then more involved. Bandwagon Gigs have already featured on the panel at last month’s Community Music industry and artists event, being picked up by the industry as a welcome addition and even flattered with a few copies, but with great surprises for the near future to come too. 6) The UK’s best Scouting Outing;

Speaking of which, I never fail to be amazed at the energy and innovation of the UK’s year long festival of new talent that is City Showcase. Its the one with the results from its annual Spotlight London event including Amy Winehouse,, Razorlight, Gallows, N-Dubz etc to the near future. Saw some corking sets last year and really excited that City Showcase Rocklands can be involved again this year. So chuffed to have had such great bills for 2011, bring on the 2012 events. 7) Positivity in Protest. Poetry in Emotion. #occupy your mind, leave history behind.

2011 was full of natural disaster, royal wedding, riots and our inner racist. The latter ironic because though there are many nationalities we are only one race. One flesh colour, covered with a protective skin in a shade and tone reflecting that of the planet’s surface. They don’t teach that at school.

So its no wonder I love UpRise Festival – in 2011 it took Love and Unity to fourteen venues across Dalston in East Enders Land. Between that beautiful day and the UpRise live events, I also noticed how the positivity in protest leads at Ones To Watch and Listen To - like Baby Sol, Eska, She Makes War, Kal Lavelle, Hollie Cook, Fiona Bevan, Imperial Leisure, Aruba Red and comedian Dane J Baptiste to name but a few enjoyments. Paloma Faith is one of the latest artists to join their £1 crew of fund raising. Truly the people’s festival, growing back towards being the biggest free community event in Europe. Sorry Boris, ha ha!

8) Stars With Guitars

Authentic rocking rock n roll n punkin’ punk has flavoured the last few years.

Yes the charts are largely urban pop and tv show talent drenched with playlists being so much more conservative than the last century that many of its more inspiring classics would be deemed “specialist”.

Over Christmas a 65 year old said to me that the charts were boring...

Rock ain’t leaving mate.

In fact it makes a great outsider.

No matter who tries to shout it down with their latest “its all over for guitars bleats”, last year the newcomers went up to (20)11!

The more established guitar bands saying "nowt is going on" might try supporting and shouting out some of those breaking through including Queens Of Sheba (cover stars of the latest Monthly Planet tip zine), The Sea, Marner Brown, The Thirst, Bombers, Hedoniacs, Popskull, Bleech, Antlered Man and oh how excited to see the authentic rock n roll star dusted magnificence of Saint Jude continue to bloom. They truly are at a world class level right now.

and speaking of unstoppable guitar bands that we can get excited about...

In 2011, London rock band 12 Dirty Bullets noticeably swelled the lively fan base that debut album ‘Downsides To Making A Living’ (2009) and a busy touring schedule won for them. They also worked on recording and producing a second album, mixing the new songs into tourng of UK, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany and the US (twice). The last USA tour (booked (in seven weeks of conversation and negotiation from a bedroom!) was a self funded road trip of over twenty one thousand miles to play forty four shows in forty states. I personally feel that this should be a movie in itself. The first single from the new LP, ‘Motown’, made the US Radio industry chart (above some internationally renown artists) which is an encouraging start. They are one of PureVolume’s Top 20 Bands Of The Year.

The homecoming tour of Britain in December was something to witness, including sell-out shows (some with touts outside) and something genuine and organic between band and audience that can’t be manufactured from critical massage. Or even their own. 12 Dirty Bullets are more intent on singing their own songs, than their own praises. Its one thing recommending a home grown band to Britain. Its another having captured a minute on video to let the reader decide for themselves. Besides for January 2012, they are gathering Ones To Watch acclaim as word of mouth seeps from the last tour.

and yeah, "Mad Friday" is what they now annually name the start of the weekend before Christmas in the land of Binge Boozing.

9) Artbeat – the sound of vision.

Since meeting photographer Rupert Hitchcox in 2010 via Anita Maj / City Showcase, it has been heart warming to see him develop (no pun intended) while also becoming increasingly in demand, exhibited and an “in house” style favourite documenting the newer wave on the Starbreaker circuit. Visual artists like Popupo Starlette (introduced at a Panda~Power! gig by Earworm Promotions), Elvin J (artwork includes The Carpels) the boundless imagination of Eugene Ankomah (who has also created sleeve artwork for Warehouse Republic who in turn are swelling a collective of musicians, singers, rappers while supporting their creative friends and following) and the beautiful illustrations of Emma Melton who recently created a classic image of Anita Maj from a Rupert Hitchcox photo! There is much of an artful treat for the eyes in the love of music for the ears.

10) The Zone Of Time.

The vibe was born in the affordable alternative artful adventure that is the South East X postcodes of London. Costa del Thames – a holiday destination for locals, though visitors are welcome and home of Deptford Army in London's most underground great venue, The Bunker(where the hot as fug Too Many T’s just made their video and are a cool tip from MTV this year), Toejam, Deptford X art festival and a locality that constantly pours talent. The “Rocklands” collective is actually named after the Zone of Time locality River Thames south side facing London Docklands as this is where the Artbeat of uniqulture organically evolves from.

Look out for Foxfest by star promoters 2bob and new festival On Blackheath. A date for your diaries; Friday 27th January you can experience Toejam (that’s graphic designer Lucca Joy on the door with musician/DJ Matthew Stolworthy – they are putting on the hot shows) at New Cross Inn and then after party a few minutes walk along New Cross Road to Deptford Broadway and after party at Deptford Army (visual artist party harders like Matt Sargeant, Tristan Scutt among the wealth of talent in the house every time.) Look out for the lovely Kalamity & Nightmare while you're there! “Rocklands” as in over the river from Docklands. Innit! (see, we are round the bend on Eastenders credits on BBC TV for map)

She was gracious in undeserved defeat, and one of the best talents in the land before she even got her audition number. With the Fix Factor its not always the TV show winners that really take the prize...

A beloved and respected photographer friend of ours, Rupert Hitchcox, was attacked by a cowardly wanker. His injuries were so severe that he was unable to come out to some shows.

BandWagon Gigs - live music network for artists and promoters.

A newly launched music site, promoting seamless communication between promoters and bands, has already proved a hit with both within just one month of operation.

BandWagon co-operates with live music promoters and venues by simplifying the gig booking and event management process. Promoters create and manage multiple events. Bands and solo artists apply for/play various gig opportunities in their local area and further afield. The service is a welcome addition for touring artists who are without a booking agent.

BandWagon gigs site aims to “facilitate and promote emerging artists, as they build a fan base through playing to live audiences”. The idea was born from music fans communicating with experienced promoters and artist managers who felt that the creation, application, booking and promoter of gigs needed better structure and transparency.

The site also features a helpful resource page (van hire, etc) for its members. As it grows, BandWagon is also evolving into a resource in its own right as a rating system for bands to rate promoters, and vice versa.

BandWagon’s website is free to use. Additionally, there is a premium service available for bands applying to play at paid gigs. This is also free until the end of this year. Further benefits will follow.

From 2012, there will be a subscription fee of £6.00 per month for the premium service. 15% of the subscription fee will be added to the BandWagons Bel Esprit fund to aid emerging talent. Money will be made available to successful members to help with tour costs, rehearsal space, recording etc.

In short, BandWagon is an additional support to the UK live music industry (which contributes at least £1billion to the UK economy, annually)

Although at a seminal stage, BandWagon has already achieved results. The initial feedback is also encouraging;-

Artists are able to view performance opportunities and put themselves forward for shows which are suitable for their style and genre. In my case I was able to appear on the same bill as a childhood hero, Mark Morriss. An unforgettable evening. Thankyou BandWagon.”

Still spoilt for choice in London South East X.

So with all the that we've been up to in Costa del Thames, we recommended that local folks go on holiday where they live. Love it that Kate Tempest still bigging up her own hood. Played at The Bussey Building (while I had flu! whaaaat!)

The only thing is, that just as I was setting off to show support for the Occupy Stock Exchange (DLR from Deptford Bridge to Bank, innit!) I noticed a Travelodge. Oh oh. For every gentrification there better be loadsa local jobs...

Some clips of that weekend. Pippa Marias on Thursday. Shaun Ryder at This Feeling then Deptford Army (back on Deptford Brodway) on Friday and St Paul's on Saturday. A bit distressed to hear that somebody got shot with a rubber bullet for photographing the clops.

A month later and I'm back at This Feeling to see Warehouse Republic. As it was the 12th September I was gonna do the "Britain In A Day" thing for the BBC, but you can't include music. So not really anything to do with me. But hey, this is a Love Pirate life...

November is New Cross Inn on the 22nd for some cool sets, then it's Toejam there on the 25th. Talking of which this kind of thing hits The Bussey Building on 17th December for their end of year bash. Mental incidental

One of the Midlands most exciting new bands, The Carpels, aim to be at the forefront of modern cutting edge pop with their mix of punk & electronic sounds. Picking up an inspired lead from Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, Late of the Pier and The Fall, their sound is a 'sock it to 'em' blend that makes dancefloors take notice then go nuts.

The Carpels were first picked up by Charlatans drummer, Jon Brookes who signed them to his EMI distributed label, One Beat Records, earlier this year. He describes what it is that makes you sit up and notice: "They've got a kind of quirky sound mixed with a dubstep influence coming from the synth and then these amazing baritone melodies, so just based on those three influences alone it's worth checking them out, right?"

The band have recorded with producer, Jim Spencer (New Order, The Cribs, Doves, Shaun Ryder etc) to great effect. The first two releases won superlative laden reactions – including being enthused about on BBC 6Music by Mark Radcliffe - and their first live radio session (BBC Introducing WM). Niall Doherty (Q Magazine) called debut release ‘Sand’ an “attention grabbing introduction”. Radio 1’s Rob da Bank played it and described them as “incredible”. Second single, ‘Handshakes’, was launched at London’s This Feeling Club where The Carpels were snapped by Libertines photographer Roger Sargent.

They were invited back to play in Autumn. Always one of the most sought after slots in the capital to get just once, The Carpels have already been asked to play a third time at This Feeling’s prestigious Tips For 2012 event (in conjunction with The Sun Newspaper) for new single, ‘Bears’, in January.

The band’s vitality has magnetised a hive of creativity and The Carpels are in the vanguard of a mighty Midlands music movement starting to come to attention. In the spirit of sharing they are seeking West Midlands based unsigned bands, solo artists or collectives to play at mac (Midland Arts Centre, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham) on 21st January 2012. Over 3,000 people joined the residents of Dalston for a day of peace on the streets and brilliant entertainment in fourteen amazing spaces.
Look out for comedian Dane J Baptiste @DaneJAH_comedy - spot on observation with MC precision timing and you know he's been there.

Oct 4th: Above mentioned This Feeling event met Jon Brookes (The Charlatans, One Beat Records, DJ at This Feeling that evening) what a gent. Love the cool dudes who are filming and taking pix that end up on stage with the band.

And talking of This Feeling, Q Magazine made the club's UK tour with PENGU!NS headlining one of it's Picks Of The Day (alongside JayZ, Adele etc). Onwards... this evening, Dana Jade plays at The Enterprise in Camden.

The Playground Unsigned on 5th October was well attended - looking forward to the results via their magazine. Claudia Groenke of Independent Music News was there and on the case. On the 6th the Stik Solo show was packed with adoring fans. So much expression in simplicity. This Feeling hit The Caves in Edinburgh on the 7th, a treat. On 10th October City Showcase connected music in Hull. Didn't make the Xerox fanzine event at Rough Trade EAst on the 12th but DID get to the Amazing Radio gig in Kentish Town where Model Society, The Chevin and Pippa Marias graced the stage. The Chevin (complete with admirable vocal range acrobatics) had attracted fans not only from The Midlands but from The States, also.

Was great to catch up with Chenaii (Musos Guide / God Is In The TV) and Claudia with music guru Andy Ross who was right to recommend Pippa Marias to us. We like VERY much. This was a warm up show for them before they hit Koko in November... https://www.facebook.com/pippamarias

The following night was back at This Feeling. It was all go, as ever. Heather Minx Ferguson birthday weekend, bound to be mental. Various bands in the house, on stage, off stage (including Ben from Warehouse Republic lookin' very rock star). Claudia, Ben, Andrei, Kris, Rupert, Mikey and a few other familiar faces out to play. TF is in association with The Sun, which is how Gordon Smart came to get the exclusive on The Stone Roses reforming (while interviewing Shaun Ryder), from Dynamo the magician who got a text from Ian Brown. As you do. Happy 5th Birthday This Feeling - Queen Of Hoxton went all mental Hacienda Rave as Shaun Willy Ryder and band ran through a Happy Mondays Greatest Hits set. Mental!

I had places to go from there. The 47 bus stop by the kebab shop to be precise. I mean, talking of raves it WAS a Deptford Army night. Imagine a room full of creative stars, multi tasking as their party nutters, ravers, DJs, MCs sides kick in. The Bunker club is the underground under ground. Mate. You missed it. Was also a birthday for this event. Dex Lutha had got in lasers n smoke. Aww mate. Mental. Too Many Ts making a video. See future for more details.

Limping saved me from a damn good kettling the next afternoon. I feel it is wrong for the rich to steal from the poor. Robin Hood yes. Robbin' hoods (banks, politicians etc take note), no. Yes we need finance for the economy. No theft required. I made my point and respect to the camp site at St Paul's.

Although some are apathetic about this cause I feel strongly, resourceful, creative and supportive. While I'm not there happy to keep mentioning it and the activities and dropping by with supplies, whatever. Real people showing how Britain never never shall be slaves and the media are not understanding it. At the end of the day, when seeking future votes, do take notice of 99% of people. Cheers.

Do you know what? A lot of good people made a lot of good friends in the first two weeks of Artful. Silver Year reality.

Week 3 (October some time. Brain a bit frazzled)

Monday night at The Bull & Gate again. The Dig are the New York band that a word of mouth crowd had come to see. They were bloody amazing. Sounding very cool, but live on stage, additionally engaging. Put them in your Tips for 2012 and somebody get them back to UK pronto. Cheers.

Tuesday PR and Promo meeting in Soho Hotel. Bump into lots of familiar faces connected to bands that I have worked with. After a very inspiring PR Guru has geared us up, Andrei Nedelea, Warehouse Republic's management, powerpop chanteuse Anita Maj and myself find that we have parked ourselves in the middle of the Stone Roses reunion press conference, ha ha. It was a very busy day, favourite bit was bumping into long time no see John Robb (Gold Blade/Louder Than War/Unconvention etc) who was getting an extra exclusive exclusive with the band, well they are old mates. He'd facebooked me a few days earlier and I'd missed it, so phew.

On the Wednesday I hashed up making some more visuals for projections. boo. Meanwhile on Dale Farm, the only way definitely wasn't Essex. Made for great imagery on the front of the papers, though.

Two words created this month. Murdochian (self explanatory, considering the way the media not reporting the world wide occupation of positivity) and "pretenciouscuntstep" (a Deptford lady berating her fella).

Thursday, had a farewell late breakfast with The Dig before they flew back to New York that efening. They were staying in Londony London a short walk from Abbey Road studios. Properly surreal as the caf had a news screen and Gadaffi was being captured/killed in the background of conversation while summery alternatives came out of the speakers. A funny sort of sunny sort of day.

Friday. SO many people out to gather, artfully at Flashbax. Mark Morriss and Dexy were sharing a bill and I was excited. I met with Kaoru and Jenny of Deathline. Just back from LA and ready to rock out with new tunes and ideas. Ben of Raw TV is a mutual friend. Joe from the Moon is making a film and was shooting his own video the next day. Andrei, plus Chris from The Breadstealers were there (the latter about to pack The Wheelbarrow senseless with their EP launch cum Strummerville after party). Joel Sarakula and Claudia Groenke (Indepenendent Music News) were also out for the evening before a weekend of gigs up north. Rupert Hitchcox continued to document the artbeat of uniqulture and Jean Genie / Amanda Jane made for such pretty pix in the bogs. Queen Rock Chick, film maker, Heather Minx Ferguson, had brought us all together. Camden Bar Solo was mental that night. I captured a minute from Mark's set with the 2-4-1 Drinks Flashbax choir on backing vocals for Bluetonic.

Saturday at Panda~Power! was also off the hook. Film clips to follow but all I can say is that the number of "is now friends with" statuses on Facebook are testament to what Artful is all about.

And this is all just a fraction of the action.

Results and more on 2nd December (Panda Power at Powers Bar in Kilburn) and 6th December (Horse & Groom in Shoreditch) if you are in London town and would like to come to our end of year bash. The latter is about as close as I get to an office party. So many friends that make things happen already coming.

I have to go out now. Press release to finish for a mail out. Then helping to set up an art and music event in Shoreditch. Then a promo meeting in Soho. Then meeting friends for a rock blast of Fearless Vampire Killers at the o2 Academy in Islington. Thats the plan, anyway...

The plan sort of went well on 26th. Had to call Shay in the end and will go to her next event, as I ran out of time (having taken on the label that I met at This Feeling as part of the future Rocklands promotion plans), and also went for a meeting with another band that I filmed at This Feeling at the start of the year. So excited and chuffed about that. I met Rupert after at the FVK gig and had a blast. Forgot that it was an 02 venue that wont take a PR's word for who should have a photo pass. No wonder there's not much imagery coming out of their shows/Water Rats etc and loads coming out of events like Panda Power!, Flashbax and This Feeling - making them WHERE ITS AT. Yeah, they're Artful faves, but I don't make this all up. You couldnt.

The big Friday night was Toejam at New Cross Inn. Another of the live music events where you're gonna find the future thrills, but up close and in what appears to be a delinquents rock n roll disco. The next one is on 17th December at the Bussey Building in Peckham...

Oh Artful.
Its like nothing else.
And this has created Gold Year for us. Thank you everybody.

Tomorrow is 31st October. There is a Zombie Bank Run at Occupy London Stock Exchange (meet 1pm for choreography and make up in Finsbury Square, come dressed as a zombie banker). Then Kate Tempest is at the Bussey Building.

UpRise – The Positivity of People Power grows.

Last weekend something wonderful happened in Hackney.

UpRise Festival highlighted the wealth of positivity across this land in 14 interesting and unusual locations around central Dalston. From a World War II bunker and roof top gig to a comedy tent (Stand UpRise) and disco shed!

Inspiring people created their own cultural Olympiad. Not only music, art and film, but also debates, discussions, storytelling, talks, walks, workshops and some interesting surprises! The festival aimed to encourage us to look at our community and our planet as Home, for that is what it is.

“UpRise Festival's 2011 Community Is Home was a very special and unique event to highlight how people work tirelessly towards a peaceful and united society every day of the year. In addition to the UpRise family were the extended family; a vast amount of individuals and organisations who joined in collaboration to provide open and welcoming spaces for a mix and mash up of arts and discussion and create 'n' debate. Using nothing more than the spirit of humanity, UpRise knows how to Celebrate The Human.”

2011 was the event’s second year. Sunday 25th September was a step on in size (an estimated 3,000 people came together) and ambition. It also proved to be one of the most positive days in a rollercoaster year for Britain that has spanned everything from Royal Weddings to riots.

The performances were of high festival standard, mixing in some of the buzziest artists on the circuit and inclusive of rising talents and cool potential among the community and arts world. It was enjoyment, entertainment, learning, discussing, laughing and dancing - for all kinds of people of every age.

This is not about celebrity.

This is about celebrating.

Held in a host borough for 2012, UpRise is a shining example of the Olympic spirit already in most of us.

MONTHLY PLANET ZINE – be in it.

Rupert's images from the Starbreaker Alliance events are, next one is due later this month.

In mid July, the latest issue(incidentally, the fastest read of this year) was out.

It may be small and backward looking but this zine thinks big and is forwards looking, and regularly a year to two ahead of the artists coming to public attention due to the fact that Rocklands allies of venues, events, media and promoters have their ears and hearts switched ON. Artists can also write their own essays, submit their own pix.

Starbreaker Alliance care. That tingle when a new thrill enthrals, a song insinuates the sinews of your mind and artistic enthusiasm and self belief charm your endorphins. Its magic.

Graint Baines ran Creekside Studios in Deptford. A couple of years ago, Tinie Tempah called in with a cassette tape. It became his rehearsal space (not these days, mind) and Grant remains one of the Rocklands locality network. When he suggested checking out Jay Differ for City Showcase Rocklands 2011, I was well impressed with the polish of the track ‘Never Change’. Booked him pronto and along with other stars of the network, ‘Urban Prophecies’ and Don’t Wait Animate had an amazing evening. Loved Jay’s down to earth and approachable attitude and his cool posse. Differ by name and nature, a front cover well earned.

In fact, all the artists featured are, as ever, worthy of further investigation. The Autumn Equinox issue (MP20) is being compiled(deadline 9th September - contribute images / words / ideas its real d.i.y.). to vision at rocklands dot tv – there is also now a facebook page for Music Tourist Board (recommendations, calendar and anecdotes of music positivity from Britain, Ireland, Channel Islands) which all are free to promote themselves at also.

In literally two months, Heather Minx Ferguson has sprinkled her stardust on Bar Solo in Camden. Having introduced Rocklands allies to London’s top rock n roll night, This Feeling http://thisfeeling.co.uk (as well as Brocolli) she has created a "21st Good Mixer" at lightning speed with amazing line ups, iTunes festival aftershow action and folks like Iggy Pop and Johnny Depp being spotted there. One of the first artists to play was the gentlemen of pop that is Mark Morriss, voice of The Bluetones.

If you are in London town, (and either a music fan seeking quality at realistic entry prices or pro actively self plugging on stage Entertainment with that all important capital E!) then this is an extended family you need to know about. Eugene and I could hear Warehouse Republic playing in the back ground. This was January 2010, the start of Bronze Year. We are all going for gold.

GST Cardinals purvey youthful exuberance and melody driven punk. “They have the tunes, they have the looks, and they all seal it together with their amazing on-stage chemistry and off-stage baby faced smiles.” (God Is In The TV).

Snarling, charisma, and energetic obsession, they’ll sleep in their van to tour, if they have to. Each outing makes new friends; “The most promising young band I’ve seen live for a very long time” (UK Bands).

The Cardinals have previously kicked and screamed their way round UK , Europe and USA where they picked up a label deal. The last few months have mixed drama, tears, positivity and hope. They poured this into song writing, which has won fresh interest for their music and make good on early promise.

Following two successful shows at this year’s Spotlight London Festival (buzzing new music talaents by City Showcase) the band get back on the road with new songs (and possibly a tattoo artist!).

Warehouse Republic - 'Not Today' / 'Junkyard' released, rock movement unleashed.

June 2011 is Warehouse Republic month (free downloads, magazine, involvement, meets ups, competitions) and is rounded off nicely by the Beatles tinged pop epic 'Not Today' and a poem of rock, 'Junkyard'on Monday the 27th.

To celebrate, the band play their first gig at home in Epsom on Saturday the 25th at The Vestry with Kasabian's tour DJ, Dan Ralph Martin on the decks, launch party booze specials and free entry. Undoubtedly the biggest rock n roll party in town since the heyday of Jimmy Page is imminent...

Talking of Led Zepellin, a band Warehouse Republic have had comparisons to (along with The Stones) they just played a London show at This Feeling club during the Isle Of Wight weekend, with musicianship that wouldn't have been out of place at that festival in the 60s, 70s or 21st century. The Ivy House is home to a 1920s theatre stage and real ale. It has hosted “an array of musicians, performance artists and general weirdness.“ (Time Out) over the years, including the likes of Jo Brand, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury and Joe Strummer (with pre-Clash band, The 101ers).

A friendly comedy and cabaret circuit favourite, it is also a function and dining room, a film club, the occasional boot sale market and a hub of South East London creatives,

This special place, previously highlighted in The Guardian, is considered those in the know, as one of the capital’s treasures. Understandably, there was much gnashing of teeth when it closed. The Ivy House has been rescued by the people behind the success of The Joiners Arms in Camberwell. John Bundy and friends have given some love and improvements, while retaining the authentic originality of it’s decor. Such is the excitement around the return of The Ivy House, that special events are confirmed on the bookings calendar, up to New Year already.

GMT Event - Raising awareness...as well as the bar

South East London's own Urban Prophecies hosted a fantastic night on the 22nd May 2011 in aid for The Meningitis Trust.

Calling in favours from other artists such as Bianca Nicholas, Jay Differ, and Inverted Overlook they hosted, and headlined "GMT” (Gig for Meningitis Trust) at the Fox and Firkin in Lewisham.

Crowds came, watched, and applauded on a night that was jam packed with people kindly showing their support.

In total they raised £700.00 for the charity.

Manuel Chowdhury of Urban Prophecies decided to create this event after his two year old daughter, Alissa-Taylor, contracted the vicious illness last year after her first birthday. It resulted in her losing both her legs just below the knee, and most of her right hand.

"Its been a year on since it all happened, and it was more of a celebration of how far she has come.

The support we received from Meningitis Trust from the beginning was phenomenal. This was our way of at least trying to give something back.

The night itself is one of my proudest achievements, the acts were incredible and peoples; kind donations have put my faith back into humanity".

The Morning After The World Ended

Mid Day 21 May

Up and at em on a lovely sunday morning. Traditional Full English breakfast, my mum listening to The Archers before getting her news paper, cotton wool clouds scudding across a deep blue sky. Sunshine and shade give a snail's pace strobe lighting effect.

Life in Costa del Thames has lots of community spirit. Something from the old centuries. I pop up the road to help set up the Madcap Urban village fete before coming home to fetch Spielberg (me little kodak filmer thingy) and make myself look a bit festive. There are many volunteers, and its just an engaging and heart warming trip out in itself.

Nobody believed that Planet Earth would end. And that's the way it should be, even if it had been true. The positive side would be to know that the one race (human) of animal, whose part in Nature's chain is to nurture and protect the living globe that created them, have a choice.

Its the lovely, socially inclusive party coming together on the Evelyn Estate for me. A miniature vision of what the world can be. Next stop, scrub up, get out, get down, join in.

May Time Play Time

We're half way through May and I can remember half of that. Not bad. Very good, in fact. With an extra day off for the royal wedding, then Foxfest (described on Last.FM as "Like Glastonbury only without that twat Bono."), indie fest Camden Crawl and the first May Bank Holiday (plus lots of sun shine) people got a bit happier and more chilled out.

First Week Of May

Rocklands TV became more of a reality during City Showcase's annual best buzz talent week. They make Carnaby Street genuinely groovy when they base themselves there. A hand picked bill of artists from all over the country (and beyond) came together in venues and retail outlets for their Spotlight London Festival. Its all genuinely not-for-profit, but for talent. It shows. There are many 'new music events', but CS are consistent early tippers from a seasoned industry background. Genuine support from Gibson Guitar studios, radio presenters from Xstream East, Xfm and Heat plus a wealth of organisations etc, underline that the event is geared more towards seeking and helping careers, than the six months of "this week's band of the year" that sometimes accompanies the web. On the punk fringe side of things, Rocklands was really chuffed to be involved.

Our multi talented musician, presenter, host and cake fairy, Jean Genie DJ'd at the LK Bennett store on Regent Street then at The Borderline. It rounded off what had been a great week out. The talent was on and off stage. New music writers, photographers, film makers, visual artists, poets, fellow promoters and new playing class friends will make their mark in the next six months. Music Tourist Board recommmends that if you are a music fan coming to London and wanting to get really involved with cool artists at approachable level then you could do worse than spend just £8 for a pass on a week of great gigs. One of this year#s best broadcasts of new music has to be courtesy of Propaganda Radio show's City Showcase special.

I didn't make it to the Friday night Chamber club in the end, so I'll have to wait until Chamber Ringmaster, Lee, gets back to get the full juice. The monthly night is a quality post rock / cold wave / electro mix with a warm heart. I'd wanted to get back to New Cross Inn in time to catch some other lovely mates too. Somehow though, I was (frankly) pissed as a fart on a boat on the Thames at a quality journalist's birthday bash with the lovely Heather Minx Ferguson - , and some nice lad we met as we were getting into the taxi.

Excellent night. I was talking too much, catching up with many old mates and acquaintances and seemed to time travel into Saturday morning without seeing the sun set.

Not so much Doctor Who, as Doctor Eh?

... and that was just the first week of May.

I won't lie. I was fuggin knackered after that. I can't imagine how Nanette, Annabel and the City Showcase team managed to still be holding follow up events right now.

Second Week Of May

On a more together note. Rocklands did become more focused. As a loose team 'Beyond Promotion To Creation' we work together to create new ways of doing things in our time. It attracts an edgier artist, when we connect them it often results in something very special. Rocklands TV has stepped up from results so far with new allies and ideas. I needed a release. It came in the shape of Warehouse Republic on Thursday evening at Wombledon Watershed. If its possible for a young rock band to be authentically 60s, 70s and simultaneously 21st century, then they are in the vanguard. (coincidentally I bumped into Lewie, front man of Hedoniacs, coming out of New Cross Station as I was going in. Hard rocking blues star!). "Do some gigs soon!". I yelled. If there is an Uncool Bird Type award, I claim it.

Warehouse Republic's own guitarist singer, Charlie, was really unwell when they headlined The Bowery last week. They still pulled it out of the bag. Respect. This week, bassist, Ben, took over on vocals, while he recovers. The key element is the strength of the song writing to create a very cool (if rather punk) set. They are coming on in leaps and bounds with some really strong material and a hearts on sleeves attitude.

I also got to see a bit of Brit pop's very own Dodgy playing together after many years. Before having to run for the 11.32 train from Mordor to Waterloo, I caught a pared down version of this;

The weekend had already started. Next day was Friday the 13th, and that's lucky on my world (Planet Water). Six years ago, I was rescued from Bad Times by two bands with such massive tunes and performances, but not the finance to claim the Reading Festival main stage appearances they merited. Corporation:Blend and Nebraska lit a firework under the arse of The Garage in a way probably not seen since. That night we were blessed by Joe Strummer. I just know it. Seriously. I mused on this during Friday afternoon, then watched Deal Or No Deal where a nice lady became the third winner, in almost six years, to win the main prize. Yeah, Friday The 13th. Love it. Believe.

In a jaunty mood (after a wardrobe trauma which made me too late to see Ceri James kick off proceedings at a very good Toejam night - (Krakatoa headlined - Edit/Select, like Lee, are keeping NX on the hot talent breeding ground map)

Then at 10pm it was Mojo Magic o clock. The first two nights had been a bit hit and miss. Hit - Because of the brilliant Friday night music played. Miss - because building a club from scratch aint always instant. The Beatles, The Stones, Bowie, funk, disco, rock n roll, mixed with the sound of Friday nights old and new. So I was well looking forward to it.

I just wanted to hear brilliant tunes, the rest was pure Wayne's World. They will come. They did, thanks to magic Annie (lady of the manor), good vibes and good times.

Between sets from Kalamity Kate, Itchy Teeth, Venus Calling then DJ sets from Jean Genie and Ryan of Venus Calling (and doing the door, dancing, laffing and yakking a lot) I caught up with sensational soul singer Vall who poppped down with friends, met members of The Bird Dogs (after reading about them in marker pen on the walls of The Bunker, and The Brassic. Lorna and Dan of Skinny Lister (who, strangely enough, I'd clicked "maybe attending" earlier that day on their Facebook event, just cos of old times sake and nosiness at catching them live. Some veteran rock n rollers called in and said it was "like being at The Cavern". Wow, what an accolade. After Toejam, Matthew of Edit/Select and Lucca Joy (who had just done the art for Rocklands Stage earlier) came by. A snip of them in the City Showcase video embedded above. By 4 o clock Saturday morning, I was ready for more.

This weekend

On the beautiful. rolling, olde worlde village vision of Blackheath, beautiful friends got married. Good friends (including members of Corporation:Blend and Nebraska) were in attendance and love/friendship were in the air. I even left with a copy of the excellent R*E*P*E*A*T book from the instigator himself.

Full of joy and wine, I enjoyed the silence you get as you cross Blackheath (on my way to replace me flat mates jacket before she got back from work, before heading for the reception at The Fox in Lewisham). Only went and facked me knee a bit somehow. I can't blame the wine. It didnt ask to be drunk. But by having a bit too much of it, I did.

Early evening. (Started typing this) Weird dreams. Lazy Sunday (with some oscar winning dramatic 'ooh me knee' hobbles, diva style). Monday Monday (just read this).

I'll try to remember the second half of the month. This weekend, the excellent Urban Propecies and Jay Differ sets that floored New Cross Inn join forces again at The Fox & Firkin on 22nd May for an excellent cause. Its free entry to raise awareness. If you can. Go.

Bestival, a good memory. So many adventures since. Satoko now in Japan, gladly safe. Officer Kicks album Citywide Curfew kicked off a real rock n roll rumble thats coming through nicely (hear Saint Jude, Warehouse Republic, Hedoniacs, Popskull, Marner Brown, Where's Strutter, Mona, Bleech, oh just loads). They would all be on the rock stage of my ideal festival. Money situation better now, not great but the banks not bullying with phone calls. Things getting sewn up nicely. A suture for the future...

Trawling around on line found some fond memories of a great weekend with an ace rock band. Good times.

Bestival-v-Mudstock (24 hours In The Life)

Current mood: adventurous

Six months on from the last waffling. Spring came and went. Summer lasted for four days exactly (Thursday to Sunday of The Secret Garden Party - I think Paul The Pirate had a helping hand in that because a pirate ship was the centre piece of the festival) and now it's Harvest time. Dexy recently graced The Big Chill on the same bill as Leonard Cohen and Officer Kicks have become a new favourite of UK festivals. Deservedly. As well as picking up their first national music press attention and radio plays. Hooray for The Six Grand Plot. London's South East X has become a hotbed of mini-fests and revolution, as befits it's colourful history.

Satoko came back to the UK, the sofa we didn't get rid of in six months is on it's side in the front room like a soft furnishing modern art installation. Possibly found somebody to clear all that out, tho. On the one day biz course at The Albany a few months ago, I sat next to, and made a new friend with a buzzing imagination to bounce off. Eugene Ankomah is an exciting artist whose original mind is visualised by his art. With Artful around the corner it is sort of magic that the first two Artful Dodger e-cards feature friends (Dexy and Eugene) looking dapper in top hats...

Drat! I forgot to do the Euromillions on Friday. I know that the phone company are basically stealing from me, but can't change to less severe robbers until I finish this bill. Had to call up and pretend I'd paid it in the last ten days, to save getting cut off.

I needed the money. I..d run out of mascara, had to have some food, and it would be worse if our power supplies got cut off. So much ducking and diving all the time is hard work, but like an unsigned band, our family have been living the credit crunch life for years. Lately, a lot more people (except the repulsively rich that lined their pockets with our money and caused this recession while a CHANCELLOR is supposedly running the country he wasn't elected to meddle with) are experiencing this life.

The banks may have stopped calling every minute of every day, including rudely at weekend mornings, but there's still not enough money to have hot water and heating now the boiler has died, and we are getting cold. I just turned the oven, grill and front room heater on for half an hour while using the dryer, in the hope of a little warmth circulating.

It's all been forgotten due to an adventure that had on a weekend break to the Isle Of Wight. Between 3.30pm on Saturday 6th September when we left Portsmouth on a ferry, and the same time the next day when we docked back there.

Half of the party were in a band making their first appearance at Bestival. Could Officer Kicks make it a hat trick and pull of their third festival crowd-winning triumph? Actually it was looking unlikely. The Unemployable Scum DJs run Totally Tidy Tours and had a band playing the BBC Introducing stage on the Friday night that a month's worth of rain fell over Britain. I got a call as one of their bands were on the ferry home on Friday night having not got to play

The stage was closed due to flooding and a subsequent generator failure. Between the cost of hiring a van and getting a ferry, it was never going to be a cheap trip for a show that may not happen. It was a gamble worth taking. Even if Kicks got to play, their slot had been changed from 12.30pm to 11.30am on a Sunday morning. Eek! Hopefully some Saturday night party people would still be up...

Heck. We would make the most of it. Get on site, pick up wristbands, put up tents, go out to play for Saturday evening, gear up to have a blast on Sunday morning.

It was sheeting rain as we arrived at Robin Hill Park which is a few miles from Newport, Isle Of Wight ,and quite muddy. The organisers advised parking away from the festival so that the van wouldn't sink. We picked up passes but were told that to get on stage required more passes and that they could be picked up in another town (!) Ryde. So began what, in brief, can best be described as a lot of travelling up and down to get sorted. Eventually settling on a sit-com of sleeping arrangements that didn't involve putting up tents in so much mud, but did involve the seats of the van and a corridor of a hotel. I don't know why they don't make extra money and let people in sleeping bags stay in hotels anyway...

We got started on partying, then got a taxi from our van in the hotel car park back to the site for some Saturday Night Shenanigans in the style of Sarf East London types out on the razz.

From the well lit entrance we were plunged into a pitch black path that zig zagged down the park through a forest to the main festival arena. Luckily lots of peeople at Bestival have lights in their hair, umbrella, clothes, so it was beautifully surreal, soundtracked by The Human League on stage.

Suddenly out of the forest into a glade where tens of thousands of people covered in fairy lights, space suits, animal outfits, military outfits and burlesque caberet garb - all in wellies - are dancing in deep slippery mud singing DON'T YOU WANT ME BABY at the top of their voices. You bet we all joined in. What a Bestival welcome.

From there we went exploring the whole site. Our main mission was to get a glimpse of the BBC Introducing Stage and see if it was running today. The latest olympic sport is called mud skating, and I think Keith [Kicks drummer] is the champion. Mate, was that mud hard going. Squelchy and slippery, with extra deep puddles every now and then. Everybody was soon 10 years old again with blobs of it everywhere.

There was one corner of the field that was just a sea of mud. Actually it was just a sea. It was the very bottom of the hill where the BBC Introducing stage sat in still and darkness.. My heart sank (and so had the stage), the closer we went, the higher the wet mud sloshed up our wellies. It didn't look promising, but apparently had only been shut down after dark. We could only hope and pray that it didn't rain again.

Next door was the Havana mojito bar. Cuban flag? What what, always means something special. I'm thinking of the people of that land and the hurricane they suffered. Admittedly on Saturday night I was drinking and dancing in mud inside a tent to loud funky music. YOu know what? we all had a whale of a time, the rest of the posse disappeared into the packed drum n bass tent for a frug, but Im claustrophobic so checked out some other entertainments then got some grub (this later turned out to be a very wise move, tho I keep finding bits of cabbage in my hand bag).

After the fun, I thought I'd get a cab back into Newport and make sure that the rest of the gang got back okay (tour manager head on). Two of us were camping, I later wished I was, as I kept asking the security why there were no exit signs and how could I please get off site. They all sent me on a long and very slow journey which involved a step by step grip on a fence to stay upright at one point. I seemed to be the only person on this route, which rang alarm bells, but every time I asked they pointed in the same direction. After the last security point (still no exit sign) I turned into a lane with no lights that was completely pitch black. NO WAY was I going to walk alone along there.

Damn it, now I was tired, iratible and muddy. Apparently some of the rest of the gang were, at this point, being chased up the hill by security that said they couldnt get out the way we had come in, but made it to a fence that they climbed over and got away, and back to base.

On the way back along the route I'd been misguided, by people who didn't have a clue how to get out of the event, that they were doing security for. I noticed an un labelled but at least lit lane that went uphill, so, logic dictated, would serve as an exit. At least every now and then one or two people were walking there. Hooray, I eventually ended up in fields of cars and was on the way to the car park. Somehow it was now three in the morning.

There was a taxi drop off pick up point and I joined the queue. Taxis came by regularly and picked nobody up because they were pre-booked. Usually they held up to eight people, but unlike Secret Garden Party, nobody seemed to be up for sharing. I mean there can't be THAT many destinations they were going to on a 15 mile long island. After an hour one cab stopped and said that taxis werent coming to the taxi point, but were just stopping out on the road. A massive queue of people had just been left in the drizzle and were not happy but we went on to the road and joined what I counted as we waited, to be a total of 50-60 people now reached the point of rushing hopelessly at anything with wheels that stopped and pleading to get in, or sitting looking forlorn as drops of moisture spat at them gently.

I felt sorry for the locals, who were being conned by the local cabs hoiking up their prices for the out of townies, and for the visitors who had probably got themselves a guest house that they might as well not have bothered paying for.

At 4am I decided I would make my own chill out zone. I had spotted a park bench with a little shelter over it at the top of the pitch black garden path as we'd entered the festival. I would sit there in relative peace and when it got light. Walk to Newport or get a bus, if the taxi situation hadn't calmed down.

It was a lovely thing to do, conversations and strange costumes went by in the dark with the occasional torch or fairy-light strewn wonder. Sometimes people wondered if I was a person or an installation. After about a hundred people went by, one girl even said hallo.

I had a unique festival experience in peace for about 20 minutes then a security man came and told me I couldn't sit down. Actually it was a bit scary as it was so dark and I was alone. I couldn't see what harm I was doing. I told him truthfully that I'd tried, and failed, to get a cab, that my legs were tired that my friends may well be here and if they were they'd come up this path. He said I was lying about my friends, and about trying to get a taxi.

Suddenly I hated Bestival, which was a shame, as even the hell I'd had since trying to leave the site two hours earlier, had just been part of a sitcom adventure.

When he came back again I was ready to bite back, I told him quite forcefully that I was doing no harm and that no matter how much he bullied me I would leave when I was ready then I emphasised my aggression by turning my torch on full in his face. He left immediately. So did my flash anger. Just because he scared me, didn't mean I was gonna let him know.

I then felt truly miserable. I sat in the cold dark night without my beloved moon for company. Just then it started to rain a bit more. I let my fluffy coat and wooly hat gather the drops while I waited for the security man to come again. This time though he was different. He said he wasn't trying to bully me, and that people were smoking drugs just along the path, that was all (damn, trust me to sit in the wrong spot). I felt good about myself again, and emboldened. Sufficiently to leave the comfort of a seat and shelter and go back into the taxi fray again. It was hopeless.

"Oh I just love having to walk to Newport" shouted one of a group of people that headed off up one of the country roads. A light bulb shone invisibly above my head. I looked up at the sky. Surely dawn would break in about an hour. I checked that my torch worked. I'd seen which was the road to Newport, and that it was raining sufficiently for nobody to stand on a road with occasional traffic and jump out at folks. My adrenaline was sufficiently pumping, for anybody that 'started', to get a wild west indian woman in their face. and I set off.

It was okay actually, a feeling of extreme freedom and adventure. My only regret was that if I had been badly attacked or murdered my stupidity would hurt my family and friends. Dawn didn't break around 5am and there was a point where trees over hung the road and it went all pitch black. A bit nervous, I didn't want to go forward and decided to lean against the pillars of a farm house until light.

I was more afraid of meeting another human being though. I've seen Earthlings on the news, it's not pretty. Peace, love, hugs, random kindness and acts of senseless beauty are, of course, evolution but, sadly so is happy slapping and mugging, even among festival goers. In the silence between cars speeding by at motorway speeds, I could hear more walkers. They were a way off and hopefully I wouldn't be seen, but in the occasional car light I was sure that a fluoresent fake fur pink coat wouldn't camouflage in a country lane well. I took the executive decision to run like fuck forward into the bit of road that I feared, and jogged for about 15 minutes (which was probably such a funny sight that the dark did me a favour) it was wonderful when I came out the other side, and i felt reborn when I finally reached the orange street lights of Newport outskirts. NOW the dawn started to break. Oh yeah, it's Autumn. Durr... That was a night I won't forget.

After guessing the way to the van and eventually finding it, hooray for the guitarists leaving the front seats free, I got a couple of hours half-shut-eye and was ready for the main event of our Bestival experience. We even thought we saw a hint of blue sky, but possibly imagined it in hope.

There was a hotel room between us - nothing like a decent bog and a good shower and tooth scrub to feel human, and it looked like the stage was back on again so we headed back to Mudstock and just prayed for the best. YES, OFFICER KICKS would play.

They set up on stage and line checked, bantering with the sound engineering and being their endearing selves. At their BBC Introducing debut there were a row of four people to watch their set. Behind us, an empty sea of mud. Luckily though, loads of people at the top of the field having their breakfast. Besides, this is a band that could get an audience of just four having the time of their lives.

There was no music on, or intro or anything. The band came on, plugged in. Said Good Morning Campers and launched into what has become one of my favourite festival sets. They were on fine fettle and we were in the mood for some damn fine rocking, turned around and people were being magnetised to the stage (which was a slow process of mud skating their way along) with even the breakfast munching section of the audience joining in the crowd responses. That the band had hangovers and the resulting headaches, eye aches etc didn't stop them being truly inspiring. It's great for people to experience them live and realise that they're something truly special. By the end of a half hour set they'd swelled a crowed, persuaded clapping hands above their heads, yelling OI! OI! and sending them off stage with roar, whoops, yells, whistles and a PROPER triumphant finale to this year's outdoor gigs.

They'd made friends outside the crowd, also, got thumbs up from the stage crew, then did the BBC podcast interview before being invited to an interview and to play music on Bestival Radio where they also met the nice lady who does the New Music Show on BBC Bristol too, who remarked what a really nice bunch of people that they were. Sometimes good things can happen for good people.

Officer Kicks had made the sun shine, a mini heat wave ensued as we joined the breakfast munchers for nosh then the clouds came after the last sip of drink. We needed to get an earlier ferry than booked, so had to then pack up the gear and miss the afternoon's festival experiences, but it had certainly been an adventure. And that wasn't the half of it. I wondered if putting my lucky Hello Kitty pants on with a prayer that morning helped Nature smile on our collective wishes

A few hours of Kicks 24 hour tour antics and banter later, from the top deck of a ferry, we sailed over a turquoise grey and pea green sea as the Isle Of Wight dwindled in size. Did that really all happen?

I have a massive talent.

...and that talent is knowing that everybody I know has at least one amazing talent. I can't sing, dance, run, write or even speak all that well but I can wonder. Most of my family and mates are great at creative and performing arts. I enjoy doing many things, painting, cooking, imagining and watching telly n movies. I think most of all I'm good at stroking cats and hanging out with horses. A wonderful teen writer in the making sent me a chapter today, another teen talent photographed a radio station that friends present at. A surreal Friday that ended with Art has set up a meeting this week that could lead to something in the near future, but at the least has made a new connection. The Armageddon Age on the news, is still the olds. For escapism I have family and friends. I am blessed with the massive talent of appreciation.

Where’s Strutter

THE Manchester rock band of right now and next, potential oozes from every pore. They played their London debut at Panda~Power! a year ago, picked up two Camden shows on leaving the stage (including Proud Gallery) and were joined on stage by Pete Doherty, also excited by their set. “Definately keep an eye on Manchester's Where's Strutter?" GST Cardinals

A melody-driven punk rock and roll band purveying an arsenal of feel good songs with infectious hooks. They’ve experienced the roller coaster of living the dream since almost accicdentally forming. In Autumn, God Is In The TV caught them at Panda~Power! and remarked; “They have the tunes, they have the looks, and they all seal it together with their amazing on-stage chemistry and off-stage baby faced smiles” .

This Hull outfit deliver onstage with snarling charisma and synergetic energy. The music is everything to them. They’re prepared to sleep in their van to tour. While on the road supporting Carl Barat, The View, The Paddingtons etc they continually craft new songs. “The most promising young band I’ve seen live for a very long time" (UK Bands.net)

Super Moon Weekend

The moon was the closest to Planet Earth for 18 years this weekend. This Spring equinox weekend has been magic for myself, and the extended Artbeat of Uniqulture family of playing class friends that make Planet Water a reality. How do we go forward.

On Wednesday A (DJ, musician, writer, events promoter, band manager) friend inspired with ideas and positivity. On Thursday a (poet, photographer, band manager) friend helped lay the Rocklands.TV business foundations.

I went out on Friday, met up with a (DJ, film maker, comedians contact) friend for a drink. We went to see a band (two of whom are film and video makers) and to catch up. One of them (also works in media, advertising and band management) reminded me that we are about "compilation not competition" as per the 'Rocklands Live In New Cross' films. Of course. Add that to the business foundations and perhaps this is why this has become a grass roots network with proven results. Not bad consideriung there's no capital or sponsporship.

Instinctive Ideas Factory seeks step on during Silver Year.

From The Water Rats in Kings Cross, I headed over the river with a lovely Heartbreaker, to London Bridge where we parted fondly and I found myself next to Guys Hospital for the excellent Trouble At The Miller (Rocklands SE1) events.

The legend that is wildly wonderful woman, Delia was drumming with Suburban Mousewife and another friend (promoter, writer, band driver) has an excellent night there. Caught all the acts then headed off for another legend's birthday to The Bunker (Rocklands SE8) for the capital's best art-soaked rave, Deptford Army.

So many people do so many things there that its like a talent festival of it's own on the dancefloor and at the bar, alone. Head honcho, Matt Sargeant of Planet Earth is DJ, producer Lex Lutha on Planet Water. We were celebrating artist, venue manager, promoter and all round star geezer Tristan Scutt's birthday. He and the singer, songwriter, poet, comedian and MC on the decks, Kalamity Kate have just graced Channel 5's Vanessa Show in Deptford Army t shirts, ha ha, subversive!

I came away in love all over again with lots of people and feeling inspired. These are the stable of friends that the world should know about, employ and appreciate. They are the bottom line of the business foundation. We aim to do good things for our charges. As always.

On Saturday, Deptford became a mini community festival of sunshine, people, market and hope. I called into social centre plus/ at the old Jobless Centre on the high street before running an errand into Central London for family.

Japan and Libya had the Armageddon Apocalypse people out in force. Praise Jesus. Don't Praise scientology. All day people were singing and chanting. Music and sunshine only made me get higher on Nature's power.

On Sunday I was supposed to complete Monthly Planet Zine, find my 49 words to put start the business and a few other things. Instead I did some spring cleaning in the day time, then nothing all afternoon, cooked a sunday roast for tea time and watched Duran Duran on telly in the evening. In short. I did nothing.

But, hey, its the weekend. That's what you do. Perspective is great from the right distance.

So for Monday, it was back to work. Office opened at 10am and will close at 6pm. I will achieve something. For family-n-friends, events, charges and even for our treehouse. Hopefuly becoming a nicer and safer place to live every month. Some bills will be paid off, some green vegetables bought and I've pulled out the dryer to do some proper grown up cleaning behind it.

The Super Moon is good for us love pirates.

Headliners, Warehouse Republic, are serious contenders already picking up interest; “good old fashioned rock thrills, delivered without the ‘look at me I’m being ironic’ attitude that tends to blight such things these days.” (Joyzine)

Voodoo Love and Revolver are tasters of something a little different from the indie haircut conveyor belt. It was an amazingly strong start, but the supposed sprain that drummer, Alex Howson, suffered a few hours before stage time turned out to be a foot broken in three places. He had just played through the pain.

A couple of weeks later, guitarist, Charlie Flynn, jumped from a second floor blaze to save his own life. The band’s collective injuries meant taking a break from activity and touring, to recover.

Now restored to health, WR gear up for the next chapter.

2011 began with a live radio session and interview for the BBC (due to public response from hearing 'Revolver' on the show in November), a brace of encouraging initial press feedback and a buzz that has earned them a slot at Secret Garden Party Festival in July.

Purple Spice and I were back in our old stomping ground of Shepherds Bush last night. Duran Duran, you gotta love em. I cribbed the new album showcasing / DD classics set list from Facebook, and a fabulous night out with a good mate. As a long term fan, its sort of exciting that they're actually bigger in the 21st Century than they were in the 20th. That, is the power of writing danceable pop ANTHEMS with sex appeal and much panache. There will be more Duran Duran pix and words in the Spring Solstice issue of Monthly Planet zine, in celebration of their next tour, but in the mean time, for old times sake, memories of trips from the midlands to London. Today is mailing list update day. This is also the month that Rocklands started promoting a few years ago. Its been great fun, created Bronze Year (010) where the foundations were laid for Silver Year (now). We are all making something, going for Gold (012) and beyond.

Its falling into place, outside of the mass media, national press etc approval, but involving the passion of grass roots music fans, who are growing with it. Hence the Planet Water parallel dimension to inside the box, a.k.a. Planet Earth.

Some of the artists that we've tipped have taken years to come to national press exposure. We have no budget for ads, PRs, pluggers etc. But it works. So Bronze Year made Rocklands TV, Artful Festival and Music Tourist Board into reality. A promotions/creative artist development collective, a talent expo of pre tips and a BritainIreland network of positivity.

one of the bands that played with lekiddo lord of the lobsters at new cross inn were found when their poet photographer mananager, andrei was recommended by dizzy spell met via patrick jones set at rocklands. warehouse republic are new but accidentally chemical magic. the bartender in the video for revolver is now the lead singer. music ability and potential but something endearing from a timeless age of eager youth, sharp mind and song ability. I hope all of those people will be there (especially the band, they're on the bill) and their friends because the exchanging of sandwich bags is the way forward.\\ Advance tickets if you would like to come, at a fiver, get in touch if you have something lovely for 3rd to 5th may goody bags and the time in which to do it.

went to the launch of rupert hitchcox photographer exhibition at brick lane gallery. loving the short hop from new cross to shoreditch high street! more lovely rocklands extended family out to play too, lala (art), chenaii (writer), anita (musician), andrei (photographer poet band manager) and myself then went to the red church bar with rupert and put the world to rights over some celebratory drinks.

yesterday (3rd february)

it was back up the east london line to shadwell, for a quick meet up with the inspirational xstream east radio posse. that station is for the people, im not surprised that its growing to more attention as people find out. had to run to whitechapel post office to pay some bills and stay outta trouble. then a really fun night out at carnivale where we drank booze to raise money for childrens charity and warehouse republic (andrei's band) ripped it up live. mr bligh, chenaii, anita were out to play, also mulka from the palpitations and rock band, the dandies were out to play. gearoid hayes of deptford army, doing pix. actually, along with rupert and sprinkles there were quite a few snappers up front of the stage. wr singer, callan, was taking it in his stride.

love those guys.

this morning i don't feel so clever, must have been a shot too many after ciders from rob bligh's mate olly, from sambucca to nambucca am off to see dexy & the hand me downs tonight and hoping to get back down to the miller in se1 for a night that bard's putting on and loads of mates are playing or djing at.

london transport are stealing with their prices so i thought i'd make the most of the travel pass!

Raped of tree power, the living globe is under attack from money hoarding fiends whose weapons of mass distraction are the propaganda of division. United, the one race, humans, could share their knowledge and ideas. The view from Moon Base, Universe City is one of a world in turmoil balanced by the force of nature within humanity. The force is still strong in many and exposes itself through sporting sport, charity, eternal childhood and the self expression of arts and ideas. It is the positivity that attracted moon fairies, Smoocher Velvet and Hattie Chewed, in the first place.

Planet Water has long been the No.1 holiday destination in the galaxy. It is home to the greatest adventure in space, its oceans. The braver, humanoid design body machine, venture on land, a world wide jungle where the greatest predator of one human being is another. But Nature balances, with power of love and romance, creativity of day dreams, infection of laughing and the safety of hugging. It is every day people, with their singing, dancing, sportfully playing Uniqulture that change history for the better. Planet Earth, the world on the news, is frightening but it is balanced, Jedi style, by the ancient force within us of Planet Water. It is for this parallel dimension that Hattie and Smoocher headed.

(well, its not all that united, and the main dude lady is a queen). There’s much that makes Britain, Ireland and the Channel Islands special in the world, and definitely the most rock n roll per capita. The Sex Pistols union jack flag featuring a punk queen was strangely mirrored later by the guitarist from rock band Queen playing a guitar solo on the roof of Buckingham Palace. Like the Music Tourist Board holiday brochure says; Where else in the world to go for a future, present and past of non stop entertainment and eccentric charm but London town?

Sister Moon is the checkpoint Charlie before the Zone of O which bleaches all visits to the jewel of Nature’s Universe (translates as ‘one song’). Our trademark circle is on every living thing, like the planet that makes them, not only rounded but made from water and connected by gravity. It didn’t take long to Earth now there was a modern alternative to moon beams. Stonehenge is still the homing beacon for journies from other galaxies. Some martians collaborated with the British government to build the “millennium dome” in Costa del Thames, making sure that the antennae guided friendly space craft to the world. Nowadays a hologram jpeg journey from Moon Base City will get you into the kitchens of one of the bars at The O2 in a flash. From there it’s just a jubilee line ride into town. Thank goodness that moonbeams are great for broadband (or “beam band as its known in the moon”).

In 1999, they landed in Comet Street (SE8) of the Zone Of Time (not far from the beaming down area near Vulcan Road (SE4) or the fairies gateway in SE10, Hattie and Smoocher headed, naturally, for the Moonshot Centre in SE14. They visited London’s Lower East Side, and beyond, to report on the areas known at Moon Base, Universe City as Irie Land, The Big Country, Land Of Song, The Shakalaka Isles and Bling Blighty - collectively, the Rock n Roll Isles - regularly.

Having arrived in time for Year 000 the birth of Planet Water, they started a TV show for new music (“Lunar Tunes”), broadcasting back from a bar called Paradise near Comet Street, set up home in their own Moon Fairy Palace on New Cross Road SE14 (looks like a wreck of a building by The Amersham to muggles) and helped create some of the many art and beat moments of the locality. One of them was Artful Festival where Panda~Power! was born.

Recently the Moon Fairies googled “positivity live music london”. The second entry was via Spoonfed for Panda~Power! The Social in W1 is owned by Heavenly Records, appropriately. It just so happened that they’d originally landed in a surreal life musical sit com drama that was too rock n roll for reality tv. If you connected every single person that has ever had anything to do with the Rocklands travelling circus then people of the world, join in, Deptford has started a love train.

Take Panda~Power! host DJ, Jean Genie for instance; Here is the original information for her Resonance FM radio show; “Join the adventures of Jean Genie and her furry friends the Space Cadets.

On a mission from Pluto...officially, yet non-officially the coldest minor planet in the solar system (this is why they have fur), Jean Genie leads her crew of Space Cadets, who appear to be pandas, but are in fact hybrids. An early experiment in string theory, triggered by a violent violin, caused the procreation of a human and a panda, resulting in a race of Space Pandas. Jean Genie was fortunate enough to appear quasi-human in the face (which grants her no favours back on Pluto, she is seen to be a freak), but not have fur all over her body. Her cadets’ look like pandas in the night, but appear to be human males by day. It is the year 4340, Jean Genie and her Cadets need to locate the chosen one, to continue the rapidly dying out Space Panda race. Armed with her ‘Con-Drum’ and two strong, guitar wielding Space Cadets, will they accomplish the mission to save the Space Panda race in time?

It is all part of the chaos magic tale, ‘Once Upon Another Time’. If you’re a rocklander, anywhere in the world, you’re in it.

Sadly the money hoarding fiends have a champion. Robert Satan McGeddon sells weapons (to all sides) and drugs (to all ages), is a loan shark, a bigot and an important cog in the wheel of inflammatory media.

He has an ulterior motive for not wanting humans to unite to save their planet and themselves. His home world, Cockroachia 1734, is rich from becoming a giant industrial zone dedicated to space ship manufacture, but its resources are disappearing. Earth is a perfect outpost, but he needs as much power as possible to own the world and it’s supply of potential slaves.

One thing that R. McGeddon can not be accused of, is murder. It is, instead, a hobby of his son, (St.)nicknamed 'Neville the Devil', who deals with that side of the firm. Of course they have new identities and a respectable image on earth.

If anything, they whole family are one of the most attractive of the celebrity friended jet set. They look fantastic, give to charity and relate to the very people they hate most by funding record labels, leisure centres and art galleries and ensuring that they get positive exposure in his media empire. R. McGeddon placed himselves somewhere you would not expect the right wing to be. A nazi wolf in rock'n'roll sheep's clothing.

The Moon Fairies are celebrating the Uniqulture of Planet Water. When people are happy they unite, exactly what R. McGeddon doesn’t want to happen. He needs fear and division to sell papers. They need to disappear.

It’s about time Neville offered them a job at his record label, Killer Choons...

Planet Water Date 011 02 02 (Earth; 2nd February 2011)

Last night he stalked them, disguised as a handsome and enigmagic, day glo indie-hoody, on the 453 bus. They got off just after Oxford Circus. Little did Neville know that he himself was being followed. Frump The Lump was, indeed, frumpy and dumpy. A cleaner by day, her middle aged, slightly batty persona, made her virtually invisible. What many women saw as a downside, she used to her advantage as a Planet Water Agent.

They’d had their eye on Killer Choons for some time now. Sometimes there are “where are they now” stories about “one hit wonders”. You could actually say that quite literally about their signings that didn’t make it... Frump was sent to investigate, and started by keeping an eye on Neville. It was strange that somebody with so many fast cars should use public transport, let alone hang about in Deptford so much, so when she spotted him at the bus stop outside The Royal Albert, you betcha she hopped on the same 453 Bus.

When they got off in the West End she already knew where they were heading and didn’t want him finding them. Luckily Hattie Moon Fairie wanted to look in Schuh, just check if there was any sale boots in her size. Frustrated with the ooh a shoe shop thing from previous experience, Smoocher said he was going to the pub and would meet her later.

Neville decided that charming the pants off Hattie was the way forward. He didn’t usually go for chicks with green skin, but hey, what must be done...

He was rehearsing his “god, your legs look so shapely in those” line, when he was stopped by two police men who asked if they could take him to one side for a moment.

It turned out that some stupid old bag had accused him of taking her wallet. Nev knew not to draw attention to himself and complied, glaring at the daft bat as he was requested to turn out his pockets but charmingly replying that there must be some kind of mistake. He made an especially lovely smile, looked the frumpy lady in the eyes and said lightly and politely "The Love Handles That Nobody Loves".

If only he knew how much the Frump was loved.

If only he knew how mischievious she was, too. Her wallet, complete with money and her image, had been slipped into his pocket just before he followed Hattie into the store. Love Handles 1. Hate Monger 0. Moon Fairies 2.

The evening ended well for Moon Fairies who enjoyed David Goo, Len Lye, L. A Salami, Kalamity Kate, Jean Genie and friends having a get together two minutes walk away at The Social, it was Space Panda central. Freya & Mike Uprise, Mr Bligh and The Tricks were among the movers and shakers out to play. Panda~Power! compere and resident poet, The Freewheelin' Troubadour was on fine form enchanting with words and positivity.

A great night out for The Frump, too. She told the police that she may have made a mistake. Had dropped her wallet and perhaps the young man was just trying to return it after all. She'd accomplished delaying the nasty, cruel excuse for a man. Then went out and joined the Panda Power! fun. Having caught the Chapman Family album launch just before the birthday night a month earlier, she was back for more. Nice bit of chocolate cake, too!

It was a frustrating night for Neville, that stupid old lardy woman had lost him his prey. He clicked his fingers imperiously at a taxi along Oxford Street and home to Blackheath. He was back to square one with getting Moon Fairies working at Killer Choons Records.

Foiled. Good n proper.

A couple of years ago, all round music star, Jean Genie Graham launched a travelling circus of love and positivity.

On January 5th 2010, Panda~Power! landed at The Social, W1 and has attracted a positive mix of movers, shakers and party makers EVERY event.

By January 5th 2011 a discernable family of rising stars of all kinds exchanged hugs, their latest news, tips and gossip. Cake n sweeties were shared round too. Tis friendly enough for sole adventurers and gangs of smilers, alike.

As Chris Eustace, front man of The Run-Up tweeted, Panda~Power! "never disappoints, people watch the bands rather than stay at the bar, and there's great people and CAKE!"

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity needs to raise over £50 million each year to make sure the hospital remains the world-class pioneering institution it is today. This redevelopment allows them to replace inconvenient, cramped outdated wards with new facilities where parents can sleep alongside their children and the children themselves are given more space in which to get well.

rocklands presents music tourist board bronze year report

so anyway anita the ASU (arts services un incorporated) love pirate artist helped get bronze year started then nanette of city showcase added rocklands (and new zealand) to their location portfolios then dizzy the culture sparker introduced andrei the photographer who manages warehouse republic and snapped artful favourite, eugene the artist.

jean genie the panda~power! star moved her travelling circus to the social in central london and the monthly party has become an artbeat hangout where rocklands saw loads of hot n cool delights including the breadstealers, the freewheelin' troubadour, where's strutter, visitor q, heads.hearts, jason james, bombers oh just loads of brilliance and brilliants.

officer kicks released citywide curfew and it is not only one of the best albums of 2010 but in the vanguard of blues / garage / punk rock fuelled 2011 rock n roll heaven that fellow stars including hedoniacs, ten city nation, marner brown, bleech, mona, saint jude, warehouse republic and the panda~powered popskull are fuelling.

denis the social inspiration introduced the uprise festival heroes at a rocklands gig and played a city showcase event at the o2. artbeat artists matt sargeant and chris getliffe are thriving, respectively with deptford army (headed by matt's alter ego lex lutha) and ape vs atom boutique t shirts. fellow d.a. member tristan went from rar! at the start of the year to clothing people's day festival in summer to managing the cavendish arms in stockwell. warehouse republic played there in autumn, artful loved it in winter.

dizzy & the side effects played rocklands on the same night as kunt & the gang. malcolm mclaren left earth that night, i have a feeling where his spirit went for a night out... dizzy started a civil art war and quite a few of the creative collective were spotted out at the 100 club in november when warehouse republic played.

heather the minx and manchester miz tipped off too many great new excitements to mention but also connected loads of them to each other too. rocklands met the fab ruth of unconventional and strummerville peeps and its true. planet water wavelength is in full effect. heather is the glamour of this feeling club which added queen of hoxton in shoreditch to its location and goes from strength to strength.

anita the rock chick met rupert the photographer at brockley max festival in costa del thames, he snapped her at city showcase rocklands and joined the playing class friends family. anita also played rocklands stage at peoples day festival which united loads of artbeat mates on a hot and sunny day, and chuffed as fug that james from planet water's fave uk festival, secret garden party, was stage managing. well done anita on the growing success in america, she's already been invited back for some buzzing events.

rocklands appeared at the mayor of london's rhythm of london events in april too. rhiannon the nightmare and kalamity kate were so darned good that they graced the artful end of festival bash, new cross dolls, in fine style. artful presented x it, the detptford x launch party at the albany where rupert hitchcox photography was a projected exhibiition.

music tourist board locations started coming together. ready for 2011 there's an artful northwest for gig and info swaps etc. we have east spanglier, scotland, wales and ireland contacts, just need to develop the south of england a bit more. peel street coming together nicely now as a circuit.

edit/select played the juiciest venues, promoted some of the tastiest bands, supported the sparkle charity, toured holland, graced city showcase, peoples day festival etc and raised their profile with self effacing charm while growing in live confidence. gst cardinals have had a rollercoaster of a year that has armed them for their next chapter, having stirred interest through releasing and touring this year.

the excellent joyzine is back this year. and it being december and all you get free down loads via the original music advent calendar. quality street, mind! http://www.joyzine.org/ and one bird records got all youthless and it wz amazing and "bring them back soon" i say!

artful artists - THE expo of entertainment and exhibition laid the bronze year foundations in fine style with so many one to watch / tip for 2011 new stars that you'd be a fool not to be at an event in person, or on line in silver year. organising and being involved starts on january 1st.

then a gang of the above friends met in an artists / djs / managers / promoters / bookers / media collective stylee (two of these meetings going on simultaneously at the social that night) an ideas factory of sparking fireworks in their heads and hi ho silver!

this word of mouth and recommending is all largely on the periphery of mainstream media focus, but still continues to grow. if it feels a bit like being on another planet sometimes, thats because it is. the parallel dimension is also where its at!
